What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded/local authority schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.

Pupil Premium: funding and accountability for schools


Pupil Premium funding has now been available to schools for 5 years to support disadvantaged children.

Funding is calculated on the number of children eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years.; looked after children; children adopted from care; service children.

Funding allocations for the financial year 2016 to 2017 based on January 2016 school census data:

• £1,320 for FSM/Ever 6

• £1,900 for looked after children LAC

• £1,900 for adopted children from care

• £300 for service children

The views of our community will be actively sought to ensure we have consulted with others as to how we can raise aspirations amongst our young people and ensure effective planning and spending of our Pupil Premium budget.
