As part of our RE unit on the Trinity and the role of baptism, Year 4 were fortunate to have been able to attend a mock baptism in St Peter’s Church with Father John. He talked to us about the five symbols of baptism: the cross, a white piece of clothing, oil, water and light (the candles). Some children were chosen to play the parts of the parents and godparents during the ceremony. We were amazed to learn that the special shell that Father John uses to pour water from the font onto the baby’s head, is over one hundred years old.
