Religious Education

The Voice of RE in our School.

RE

At Ilfracombe Church of England school, we believe that the reason we study Religious Education is to learn about the main world religions: Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism.  We want our children to explore big questions about life such as ‘Is God Real?, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live.  RE helps us to make sense of religion and belief, reflecting on our own ideas and ways of living.  It helps us to understand and tolerate one another’s different ways of living or culture so we can live peacefully side by side.

RE Curriculum

The documents below show the overview and coverage of religions throughout the key stage. The overview has been colour-coded so that you can easily see which religions are covered. It is a legal requirement that 50% or more of the RE curriculum should focus on Christianity.
