STEM Activities in 3EC

In our school we feel it is really important to celebrate and promote STEM. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. STEM is incredibly interesting because it encompasses so many things and actually is where so many exciting jobs and opportunities occur. For our first STEM activity, we built some catapults which required us to use our engineering skills and science knowledge of forces.

'STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Lots of these things were included in the making of the catapults.' Sam Burch 3EC

'Although I found it challenging to make, I persevered and then I loved trialling it outside.' Evie Lamerton 3EC

'I liked trying mine outside as it went really far.' Layla Herriott 3EC

'I still have my catapult at home and I'm testing how good it is with my different Lego pieces.' Riley Farrell 3EC

'I found making my catapult tricky but it was still really fun!' Bliss Emery 3EC

'It was really fun to see what the catapult could do but it was hard to make.' Kitty Elliott-Arkell 3EC

'I found it interesting to learn how to make it and to see how it would fire.' Fox Berry 3EC
