Taiko Principles

At our school, every class gets the fantastic opportunity to have Taiko sessions with Ms Foster. 3CO have just had our third session of the year and we loved it! In Taiko drumming, we are taught and reminded of the Taiko principles, which are Attitude (always doing your best), Kata (body language), Technique (simple things done well) and Ki (enjoyment). We practice these principles while drumming, then we use them to provide focus for our learning during school. Taiko drumming allows us to practice focused movement, while keeping in time with the beat.

Darcie says:n"When I show good Kata (body language), I am proud that I am doing the right thing. I am aware of my body language and how it affects my learning."

Matthew says: "Kata helps me to remember to sit up and have energy for learning."
