Children in Year 5 will be taking part in a Mini Police Programme which is intended to promote engagement with children, schools and the wider community.
The programme is OFSTED recognised and will run over 6 weeks split into one-hour weekly sessions incorporated into the school day. The scheme is intended to focus upon citizenship and community values. The children will choose a policing-based topic that either affects or is relevant to their community. We hope that children experience and gain a wider understanding of the work the police do and get to know a representative from their local policing team. The focus will be on staying safe, making good decisions and through participation make a difference in the local community.
