Dear parents and carers,
Along with Ilfracombe Academy, we have taken the difficult decision to close tomorrow due to the risk to life from Storm Eunice. A Red Weather Warning (Click Here) has been issued by the Met Office for our area and this means we should expect:
Flying debris resulting in danger to life
Damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
Uprooted trees are likely
Roads, bridges and railway lines closed, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
Power cuts affecting other services, such as mobile phone coverage
Large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and homes, including flooding of some coastal properties
The school site will be closed to all staff, children and their families tomorrow.
Learning will be available online using your child's SeeSaw account (Select Sign In Role - Seesaw) and information on how to access this will be sent home with your child today. We will also provide children with paper based learning to complete at home in case you are unable to access this. Any questions about remote learning can sent to pupilwork@ilfracombe-jun.devon.sch.uk
We appreciate this will cause disruption and inconvenience but believe it is the right decision to keep pupils, families and the staff safe. School will reopen after the half term holiday on Monday 28th February.
Warm regards,
Mr Le Bredonchel
Head Teacher
