Snow Letter March 2023

March 2023

Dear parents/carers,

There is the possibility of some cold and wintry weather on the way so I would like to remind you of the procedures that we have in place. In the event that we do have snow, this is what we would like you to do:

  • Check the school website

  • Listen to Radio Devon or Heart Radio or check the Heart website in the mornings – they will make an announcement if the school is to be closed if we know in time

  • Check your phone as we will try to send you a text message if we are going to be closed - but please remember that mobile phone signals are not always reliable in bad weather

Please be aware that sometimes it becomes necessary for us to close the school for health and safety reasons. Staff members who live outside Ilfracombe may be unable to come to work because of snow the other side of Mullacott, so please check even if there is no snow lying in Ilfracombe!

If you hear a confirmed announcement that the school is closed, please pass this information on to other parents, although you should be aware that sometimes the grapevine can be unreliable. If you hear that the Academy and/or Infants is closed (or open), it doesn’t necessarily mean that we are so please check!

It is extremely important that we have accurate information on record in school. Please check that the office has the correct phone numbers in case we need to contact you about early closure in the event of extreme bad weather.

Kind regards,

Mr Le Bredonchel

Head teacher
