From the Governing Body

Dear parents and carers,

So what do Governors do? Governors do a lot of work behind the scenes. We undertake health and safety walks around our school building and grounds, we oversee projects taking place and make sure they are going to plan. We are proud of the work we did in getting three new classrooms built on the top yard. We ask questions, look at the quality of teaching and learning across the school, take an active part in the school development plan, and build strong relationships with staff and pupils. We interview new staff, make sure that policies are up to date and are part of the school culture. We challenge and support the Head teacher and school leaders.

The list goes on… we enjoy what we do and we are proud to be making a positive difference to the education on offer at Ilfracombe CE Junior School. In our recent HMI Ofsted Inspection, the HMI was very impressed with the progress pupils made in our school.

The Governing Body would welcome the opportunity to talk through the work of our school and answer any questions you might have. Please contact our Chair of Governors, Mr Porter, via the school office.

In the meantime, we hope you and your family have a very happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year

Best wishes,

Ilfracombe C of E Junior School’s Governing Body
